Sorry to revive an old topic, but I thought it better to use this one rather than make a new one. My questions are:
How do you guys run the cosplay contest? Is it applause? Judge Panel? Voting by public? Some other system?
What do I need to do if I want to participate?
Back in the cons I have worked with, we have 5-7 judges, depending on the con, and we evaluate each cosplayer who signs up online or on the spot, based on a "guide" made through several cons experience by the staff, and we evaluate Craftmanship (How did you make your cosplay, more points for being homemade by you), Originality (How often is the character cosplayed, and how often have you done so too. The fresher the better), Accuracy (Comparing with a picture you bring or send online at the contest pre-reg, we check how much you look like the character. The more details the better.) and Acting (Act like the character, make us believe the character is truly in front of us. This also includes answering questions we ask about the character). With a total of 40 points.
At the time of exhibiting the cosplays, we do a "parade", we pretty much just make a line on one side of the stage, do our stuff on stage, exit the other way. Then come the prizes, where they just call out our name and cosplay, and we pick it up.
So, how do you work yours?
