Welcome! Just seeing the pics helps, but we could also stand to know what shows you are into. I can easily list off a few characters you may be able to pull off, but I cannot guarantee that you would enjoy or even know any of them.

Just list some shows you like. Hetalia? Naruto? Eva? And don't worry about choosing something that other people do: we usually get at least 5 characters doubled every year, some get 4-5 of the same character.

As for places to find stuff, if there is a second-hand store around you, you can usually find most things there. We can help with specific items if you need help. I personally got about half of my Fourth Doctor (Dr. Who) costume, along with my Rock Lee and Mega Man, at my local Goodwill.

Well I like a lot of animes so its hard to list, also I didnt rlly want a list of people to cosplay as just because I knew them, because of the animes I like I already know of the people I could possibly cosplay but I want complete strangers opinion on who they think I could cosplay as, plus if I dont know them thats all the better because then you can introduce me to a new anime I might not have found or watched otherwise XD

How about a list of animes you do watch and the like? Then we have a bit of a basis on what to recommend for you (what genres you like, etc). Better yet, add in a list of characters you would LIKE to cosplay, and we'll give our opinion on who you would most fit, from looks' standpoint.

On the other hand, try not to pick a character that has too complicated of a costume. If you're planning on making the costume, understand the amount of work that will go into making it. It might take a little longer than you think, and more complicated costumes can eastily take over 100 hours of work.

Other than "start simply" and "start soon, I really can't give you any other advice. Best of luck!

If you like Gothic Lolita, I don't think you would even necessarily have to cosplay a character.  It seems most of the fun of Lolita is just the creation.  If you are looking for some "outside the norm" inspiration you might try Megumi from the vampire-horror manga and anime Shiki http://www.otakureview.net/?p=7787 or perhaps Mikaila http://www.amazon.com/Godchild-Vol-4-v/dp/1421504782 from the Kaori Yuki manga Godchild.  Merryweather, another character of Godchild and the Count Cain series also has some very cute Lolita outfits. http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/4133/minitokyomonochromescanjv3.jpg This image has both Merryweather and Mikaila.

After seening you hairstyle and face I would say you could pull off a convincing (the girl cop from Hellsing.  I don't know her name), if you don't want to go the gothic-lolita route.

Depending on how much you want to interact with other people who cosplay the same series, I can pretty much guarantee you can find FMA, Trigun, FMP (my Wolfwood becomes Sousuke in a snap), Ouran, and Naruto people. Does that help at all? Sometimes, just polling what people plan to do things with helps; if you want to get a Hetalia group together, but don't want seven Italys, you can ask who wants to be what. If you don't want to be the only Eva pilot in the room, you can look for a Rei or Shinji...

>>; anyone have advice for how to squish your underarms a little. turns out my measurements might have been off by an inch and a half, or maybe they got bigger, who knows. either way, I need to be able to reduce the size just a little, to wear it..
