Anime-themed games
« on: October 31, 2007, 08:48:47 PM »
With all the games out there based off anime titles (Naruto, One Piece, FMA, DBZ, etc.) and having not played any of them myself. I was wondering if there were any in particular that you'd recommend...or recommend staying far, far away from?  ???

Also, the .hack game series...same question as above.  :)

Thanks in advance!  ;D

The Fullmetal Alchemist games are kinda fun, but they don't last long. I got maybe 20 hrs out of the first one, and 10 hrs out of the second one. The battle system for the second one is more fun, but the story is totally butchered. All in all, they were kinda fun but I'm glad I bought them used, because I wouldn't pay full price for them.

I've played .hack/infection and it's lots of fun! I want the others but I've had trouble finding them around town. I could find them online, but I usually spend my money too fast.  :-[

I had a lot of fun with Record of Lodoss War (Dreamcast).

Naruto: Clash of Ninja series is win. (first gets old, but with over 20 characters in later games, it gets really hard to get bored)

I was watching X-Play's Golden Mullet Awards (for the most terrible games of the year) and they gave one to Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2. :P Mostly they complained that it was just another Dynasty Warriors game. . .

Personally? Well I love it. :3 I am a fan of both Dynasty Warriors and Gundam so this game made me a very happy gamer. I think they gave it way too much crap. It's actually a lot of fun to play.

I agree. I feel that they were a bit too harsh on it. How can you dis such a great genera of anime? Now I willl agree on a few things that could at least use improvement.

1. Less # of missions. Now the number of characters was cool, but there was too many missions I think.

2. The next one the is difficulty for some missions. Now I'm not saying the game shouldn't be challenging, but not having a choice to maybe at least adjust it some for some missions, makes it really hard to enjoy certain parts of the game.

3. Too many mass produced suits and not more of the main suits from various series. (EX.-Maxter Gundam, Gundam Deathscythe H, and Heavy Arms)

4. The last thing that bugged me about the game was the how the parts option was. I just feel there was a bit too much to deal w/, and felt it should have been left closer to the first game.

Other than that, I absolutley loved the game. Those 4 reason's aside, my love for anything Gundam, and the many other things I liked about it, easily outway the things that bugged me about the game.

@ KuramaBabe-Nice to see ya here too, and yes Fuedal Combat is a good game.

I really agree with you. There are too many missions. I never really play as the mass produced suits since they have no charge attacks and generally do less damage. And I want my Deathscythe damnit! :P I think Deathscythe Hell is my favorite mecha of all time. :3

But still, I really do like the game despite it's flaws. :)

Amen, sister! Deathscythe H is one of my main favorites too, but it runs a very close 2nd for me to Wing Zero. (If ya can't tell by my avi ! LOL!) I can't say why exactly, but I still love both a great deal none the less.

Has anyone played that I-forget-the-studio Vs. Capcom game yet? The one that just came out for Wii? With Tekkaman and such? I want to know if that is good, as I was considering bringing it this year.

I don't have a Wii, but I think I know what game you're talking about. Isn't there a commercial out recently for it involving some action figures of characters from the game?

I thought that they did a pretty good job advertising that commercial. I liked it at least anyway.

I know whatcha mean. I'm down to the last 6-8 achievements, but a recent storm somehow managed to cause 3 red lights on my 360 to show up just before I was going to shut it off when the power went out for a couple of seconds. And I was on a good roll too!!! AAARRRRGGGHHHHH!!! :<

There's also Mobile Suit Gundam: Encounters in Space.  It has a VS mode and custom Pilot engine to build your own Zeke or Feddy.

I'm enjoying playing The Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces on the Wii.  If you enjoy flying games, this is one to grab.

As for fighters, if you can find a copy of the Super Famicom game Gundam Wing: Endless Duel, that is a fun fighter.  Your choice of all of the Gundams, Tallgeese, Mercurius and it's companion (drawing a blank on the name), plus Epyion.  Getting the combos and special attacks is tough, but that's the challenge.

I'm not sure how it's spelled, but Mercurius's partner is called (I'll probably misspell it for now) Vey-eight. Just out of curiosity, what system is that GW: ED for? Gundam Wing is by far my favorite anime, but this is the first I've heard of this game.

As I stated, Super Famicom.  Better known to US people as the Super Nintendo.  There is a fan translation patch out there too.  Graphics on the game are quite good, and controls are solid.  It's just learning the special attacks that's kinda frustrating.
